Stress Relief From Hot Tubs

Warm water therapies have been proven as an effective way to improve health through the centuries. In ancient Rome, natural spring waters were popular and known for having special curative powers. Heat and massaging jets are best for relieving everyday stress that creates muscle tension and restricts blood flow, causing sleeplessness, fatigue and headaches. These physical ailments can affect your thoughts, our moods and our ability to enjoy life to the fullest.

Suntek Pools and SpasHydrotherapy is the use of water as a medical treatment, to help a person relax and relieve minor aches and pains. In a hot tub, these three key elements combine to create a hydrotherapeutic effect.
  1. Heat dilates blood vessels helping promote blood flow to sore or damaged tissue areas.
  2. Your body weight is reduced by 90% due to buoyancy, helping relieve pressure on joints and muscles.
  3. Massage jets relax muscles and relieve pressure on nerves

Keep Your Pool Algae Free

August is creeping up on us, and that can mean one thing for pool owners, the frustrating experience of having algae float around in your pool.
The end of the summer is slowly approaching, families are taking vacations left and right, and not a whole lot of their attention is focusing on the cleanliness of their pool. Taking care of your pool is the last thought on your mind when school is around the corner, finish the summer strong with a pool that is crystal clear!
Although having algae in your pool isn’t all too common, if it does appear in your pool it can be an annoyance to get rid of. Just in case these green organisms do surface in your backyard pool, here is a list of 4 keys to ensure your pool doesn’t have the problem of growing algae:

• Keep your sanitizer levels up- chlorine levels must be kept at optimal levels, all day, every day.
• Keep the water moving- algae starts when water stops; keep your filter on for the month of August.
• Use the pool- the best way to keep a pool clean is by actually using it. Swimmers mix up the water and debris, which allows the skimmer to catch more particles and ultimately filter the pool better.
• Add an algaecide weekly- best way to prevent algae from ever surfacing, keeps your summer stress free.

For more information on how to keep your pool clean visit Suntek Pools and Spas or call us at (631) 249-7727 with any questions.

Is It Safe to Open Your Eyes Underwater?

Anyone who has been in the pool or hot tub will tell you that at one time or another they've opened their eyes underwater.  But this brings up a bigger question - is it safe to open your eyes underwater?

Many believe that he chlorine in the water causes eye redness, but the water's pH level is actually the cause!  The pH level measures how acidic the water is, if the pH is above or below the correct range they your eyes get irritated.

According to studies, your eyes won't experience any long term harm due to pH levels if you open them underwater (Unless the water's pH or other chemicals extremely out of balance).  Although, water with levels of infectious bacteria may be something to worry about.  Exposure to infectious bacteria can lead to an eye infection.  We recommend wearing Google if you are swimming in a public pool, unknown pool or other unknown water.
