Why You Should Service Your Hot Tub for the Winter Months

It's hard to believe that summer is actually over, but now it's time to start planning ahead for winterizing your hot tub. To start off, you should consider leaving your hot tub on and running throughout the winter months. Relaxing in your hot tub while the snow is all around you is truly a different feeling that many of our customers enjoy. Of course, this will depend on the winter we will have and your tolerance to going outside in the cold to use your hot tub.

We recommend flushing out your hot tub every 6 months, depending on the condition of the water. Remember, if this process is done incorrectly, you can end up damaging the hot tub. If you decide to winterize your hot tub for the entirety of winter, freezing water can burst pipes and other fixtures in your spa that can be very expensive to replace.

Our Hot Tub service technicians at Suntek Pools and Spas are experts at winterizing hot tubs as well as flushing their systems. Our Spa Drain, Clean and Fill service includes:

1. The Spa is drained
2. We clean the tub with a fast acting surface clean that removes all tough water lines and grease build-up.
3. The tub is rinsed, vacuumed and wiped down with a towel.
4. The shell of the tub is waxed from the waterline to the lip of the tub to protect the acrylic finish from chemical attack and fading from UV rays.
5. The spa is refilled with fresh water.
6. The filter cartridge is cleaned with a spray on formula to remove oil, grease, calcium and scale formation.
7. The spa cover is cleaned with a heavy duty liquid UV protectant.
8. The operation of the tub is check to make sure that the heater, pumps, blower, and controls are working properly.
9. The water is shocked with a chemical that disinfects the water that kills any bacteria.

Four Ways To Use A Hot Tub For Therapy!

Many experts agree that Hydrotherapy is one of the best and most natural ways to heal and relax the human body.  When relaxing in a hot tub, the warm water causes the blood vessels to dilates, thus releasing tension in the body and allowing for easier blood flow.

Below are several condition that can be aided by hot tub use:

Arthritis
The heated water helps ease the effect of arthritis by soothing aching joints while the buoyancy of the water releases pressure.

Back Pain
Heat helps release the tension in your back muscles by warming, stretching out and relaxing.  Similar to the effect of warm water on arthritis, the buoyancy helps relieve pressure on the vertebrae.

Insomnia
I'm sure most of you have heard that sleep is one of the most important factors to help maintain your overall health and well being.  After you get out of the hot tub, your body temperature will begin to drop back to normal.  This can trigger and promote induced sleepiness.

Foot Pain
Of all your body parts, your feet take the biggest beating ever day.  Having to support the weight of your body will put extra stress on them.  Hot tubs can help release the stress with the combination of heat, water buoyancy and massage jets.  Who doesn't love a foot massage?

Hot Tubs are great for people of all ages!  They can help loosen tight muscles, relax stress on bones and joints, and induce a peaceful atmosphere!   Stop what you're doing today and visit our Farmingdale Showroom!  For more information please visit our website www.suntekpoolsandspas.com.
